The Shanti Wellness Project is a holistic health care clinic for low income women. The clinic was founded in 1999 as a two month senior project by Chanti Smith, a Prescott college student. Since that time it has served many hundreds of women and offered them alternative health-care resources and a place of safety, comfort, support and healing.
Holistic health care encourages self-empowerment and the emergence of our body's own natural self healing potencies. As a result we become better able to function physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Holistic philosophy teaches us to work with nature in all things, to relax, to trust our inherent wisdom and the wisdom of our bodies. As each individual in a community grows stronger and more conscious, the whole community grows and evolves. The workings of the Shanti Wellness Project is a testament to the idea that we all win when the needs of the whole are met. It behooves us all, then, to act and respond on behalf of others. The natural inclination to help those in need emerges out of the understanding that all life is sacred, that the Divine resides in Everyone. Doing unto others and nurturing the People stand as core messages of all true spiritual paths. The volunteers of the Shanti Wellness Project all embody this spirit of Seva, or service. The Shanti Wellness Project offers a focus for community involvement that has enriched the lives of all who have participated.
This is an important time for the Shanti Wellness Project. Your personal involvement at this time is crucial to the continued existence of the Shanti Wellness Project. If you are inspired to help, either through volunteering or financial assistance please contact us. Donations are tax deductible and can be sent to 136 Grove Avenue, Prescott, AZ 86301.
